Opel cars were primarily rebaged as as either Saturn (prior to the brand being shut down) or Buick. There were a few that were rebadged as Chrvolets as well. The Opel Astra H was a Saturn Ion before becoming a Buick Verano. The Opel Karl is a platform mate with the Chevrolet Spark. The Ampera was a rebadged Chevrolet Volt. The main problem is the paint quality wasn't that good and quite a few had no aircon. The "classic" Barina was a Suzuki Swift, that was reliability +. Yes, things went downhill in terms of reliability for the Barina but the high-end Astra's are well regarded in Europe as your entry-level Sales Representative car. The new car is up to 200kg lighter than its predecessor, which makes for a breezy ride. Torque is available across a wide rev range and is delivered seamlessly. Compared to the previous Astra, this car is more driveable all round. It is also quicker, with a century sprint of 9 seconds (versus its predecessor’s 10.2, and the Golf 1.4’s 9.3). 2.2 MPI of 147 horsepower – Good luck finding one on the Opel Astra G.
